Position Summary The Benefits Specialist provides customer service to employees regarding pension, 403(b), health benefits, and other benefits within the organization. This position is responsible for timely and accurately processing all benefits transactions. The Benefits Specialist assists in managing employee benefit plan administration through education, communication, and managing special projects throughout the year. This is a hybrid position, requiring at least 2-3 days per week in the office, after the training period is completed. During the 3-6-month training period, the position will be in the office 5 days per week. Primary Position Responsibilities 1. Ensure data integrity of benefit enrollments, including the maintenance of electronic transfers of data/files. 2. Process benefits transactions timely and accurately while providing a high level of customer service to employees. 3. Calculate benefit premiums and reconcile monthly billing statements. 4. Administer Wellness Rewards Program and Wellness Challenges. 5. Promotes communication, education, inclusion, and engagement initiatives. 6. Manage the tuition and certification reimbursement program and policies. 7. Provides support to the LOA benefit payments/COBRA process and other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Education: Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field Minimum Years of Experience: Required: Without a degree, 3 years of experience in benefits or related HR functions With a degree, 1-2 years of experience in benefits or related HR functions Preferred: None License, Registry or Certification: Required: None Preferred: HR Certification: PHR or SHRM-CP Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Required: Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented nature with emphasis on accuracy in keying transactions. Knowledge of commonly used benefit concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to prioritize and achieve results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarity with Google Suite. Preferred: Working knowledge of various benefit plan types, including retirement plans and health and welfare. Experience with UKG Workforce Manager.
