Average Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, with potential Overtime after the regular shift and/or on Saturdays based on production needs. The Hand Polish employee is responsible for cleaning, conditioning, and finishing boots to meet Lucchese's premium quality standards. This position plays a critical role in ensuring each pair meets final presentation expectations for appearance, consistency, and craftsmanship. In addition, this position will align with Lucchese values, consistent policy administration, and a safe work environment. Scope of Job The Hand Polish associate performs manual finishing operations by conditioning, cleaning, and polishing boots prior to final staging. This role supports production flow by maintaining quality standards, meeting daily production expectations, and ensuring pairs are properly matched and finished before advancing to the next department. The position requires attention to detail, ability to follow work tickets, safe handling of chemicals, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Duties/Responsibilities: All responsibilities listed below may be modified based on business needs. Remove one boot at a time from the rack and review the ticket to confirm the correct conditioning process. Place the boot on the table and wipe the entire boot with appropriate leather conditioner. When necessary, use a brush or rag with approved solvent (acetone or other cleaners) to remove cement, paint, or residue. Add polish bar under brush machine as required. Insert hand inside the boot and properly position it under the brush machine. Operate brush machine to achieve proper shine and finish. Inspect boots to ensure pairs match in finish and overall appearance. Return completed boots to rack and push rack to next staging area once complete. Meet established production expectations for conditioning and polishing. Work safely with acetone, solvents, leather conditioners, and other approved chemicals. Support department by assisting at other workstations as needed. Maintain clean and organized work area at all times. Follow all company safety guidelines and PPE requirements. Quality & Production ExpectationsMaintain Lucchese's premium quality standards for appearance and finish. Ensure pairs match in color, sheen, and overall presentation. Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, or quality concerns immediately. Meet or exceed daily production targets without compromising quality. Adhere to Environmental, Health & Safety procedures when handling chemicals and operating machinery. Maintain accurate workflow and rack organization to prevent production delays. Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to detect minor defects or inconsistencies. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Effective communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to cross-train in other production areas. Commitment to Lucchese philosophy, values, and safety standards. Education, Experience, and/or Certifications:High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in boot manufacturing, leather goods production, or finishing operations preferred but not required. On-the-job training provided. Physical Requirements:Ability to sit continuously for up to an eight-hour shift. Frequent repetitive hand and wrist movements. Ability to reach, bend, push, and pull. Ability to lift up to 5 pounds. Ability to safely work in a fast-paced, production-driven manufacturing environment. Ability to work with chemical agents including acetone and solvents in a production setting. Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, with potential Overtime after the regular shift and/or on Saturdays based on production needs.
