Summary: The 3rd shift Production Manager is responsible for leading the Production, Quality, Maintenance , and Sanitation teams ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role oversees Production Supervisors, Quality leads, Maintenance leads, and Sanitation techs, supports cross-functional coordination, and ensures that resources, staffing, and workflow align with production plans. The Production Manager plays a key role in planning, continuous improvement, KPI performance, and operational decision-making in the off shift. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, strong leadership and analytical skills, experience driving performance in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, and a commitment to operational excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead, coach, and develop cross functional teams to ensure consistent and effective leadership in 3rd Oversee daily department operations to meet safety, quality, throughput, and cost objectives. Own and analyze shift KPIs, including throughput, yield, waste, downtime, labor efficiency, and adherence to production plans. Develop shift structures; partner with HR and or senior production manager to support hiring needs. Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Engineering to ensure reliable production flow and rapid issue resolution. Lead problem-solving initiatives, root-cause analyses, and corrective action plans for recurring or high-impact issues. Drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and increase cost-efficiency. Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, food safety guidelines, OSHA standards, and internal operating procedures. Support production scheduling, capacity planning, and long-range operational objectives. Participate in capital project initiatives, equipment upgrades, and layout improvements to enhance productivity. Review and validate Supervisor documentation, including labor reports, shift logs, downtime records, and quality audits. Conduct department meetings to review performance, communicate expectations, and reinforce production priorities. Participate in interviewing, onboarding, performance evaluations, corrective action decisions, and talent development discussions. Build a positive, accountable, and collaborative culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Operations, Food Science, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing or a process-driven production environment 3+ years of leadership experience Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred to support communication, coaching, and workforce development. Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP, food safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated experience managing KPIs, analyzing production data, and implementing improvement initiatives. Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills with the ability to influence and engage diverse teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and make sound operational decisions. Proficiency with ERP systems and production reporting tools preferred (e.g., DEACOM). Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsWork performed in production environments with exposure to changing temperatures, powders, allergens, and food ingredients. Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching throughout the shift. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when necessary. Some work performed in an office setting for planning, reporting, and administrative functions. Shift flexibility may be required, including extra time and weekends based on business needs.
