About the Medical Rotation Medical Rotations are supervised by one or more Preceptors and located at either Max Robinson Center 1201 Sycamore Drive, SE Washington DC 20032, and/or 1525 14th Street NW, Washington DC 20005. Trainees will gain clinical experience seeing medical patients under the supervision of an experienced licensed clinician. Trainees should demonstrate some level of commitment in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, as well as individuals living with and/or at risk for HIV. Key Learning Objectives: Objectives to achieve and be able to or enhance: Furthering skill in History-taking, conducting physical exams, and developing treatment plans for a wide range of WWH clients. Providing affirming care to gender-diverse patients. Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions in a primary care setting. Taking a detailed sexual history and diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections. Caring for individuals with, and at risk for acquiring HIV. Students who meet the eligibility requirements listed below may apply. Eligibility: Must be in an active medical graduate program (Medical school (3rd or 4th year), Medical residency program in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Med/Peds), Nurse Practitioner Program, or Physician Assistant Program. Trainee must be a member of an institution that has a signed University Affiliation Agreement with Whitman Walker. Must meet the institution criteria to be eligible to participate. Must carry liability insurance through their university, as described in the affiliation agreement. Must be able to attend a half-day orientation and complete required additional in-person trainings, surveys via ADP, and compliance trainings through the Compliance platform. Must comply with all regulations of the internship and policies of Whitman-Walker, and the affiliated Institution Application process: To apply, trainee candidates must upload a resume and cover letter.
