This role is accountable for interpreting the roadmap-level technical strategy and developing the execution strategy for other engineers, translating architectural vision and enterprise standards into clear, actionable engineering plans. They will own the development, quality, resiliency, observability, and operational readiness across the full lifecycle-from proof of concept through general availability and iterative refinement. The role partners closely with Staff Architects and senior stakeholders, drives technical direction, establishes governance standards, and acts as the primary technical escalation point for Engineer II and Engineer III, providing design guidance, trade-off analysis, and prioritization to unblock delivery and reduce risk. The Engineer II - Premium is wholly responsible for delivering defined initiatives and ensuring alignment with enterprise engineering standards.Core Responsibilities:Backend Architecture & DevelopmentDesign and implement backend services in GolangBuild and maintain integrations with Platform, CI/CD, and Change Management tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, XLR)Establish and evolve Kubernetes foundations, containerization via Docker, and GitHub-based workflowsFollow our framework for phased policy enforcement (audit, warn, enforce, gate)Frontend Architecture & DevelopmentLead frontend architecture and implementation using ReactDevelop and maintain OneApp-based applications (highly preferred)Ensure frontend/backend contract alignment and performanceData Modeling & Systems DesignDefine appropriate data structures, schemas, and artifactsEnsure efficient, secure, and scalable data storage and data flow patternsEnd-to-End OwnershipOwn delivery from POC → MVP → GA → post-GA refinementAccountable for functional and non-functional requirementsQuality, Stability, and PerformanceDefine and enforce QA strategiesImplement regression test integrationsLead performance and load testing initiativesDrive resiliency and stability improvementsApply evidence-based testing practicesObservabilityDesign and integrate O11Y, metrics, logging, and alertingEnsure systems meet SLOs and operational expectationsArchitecture & GovernanceProduce and maintain architecture diagrams and ADRs (e.g., Draw.io)Ensure technical alignment with senior stakeholdersParticipate in and influence governance forumsLeadership & MentorshipProvide technical direction to Engineer II and Engineer III rolesReview and improve documentation (customer-facing, user, architectural, internal)Partner with Staff Architects on solution design and deliverySet technical direction and execution strategy for other engineers, translating architectural vision and enterprise standards into clear, actionable engineering plans.Act as the primary technical escalation point for Engineer II and Engineer III, providing design guidance, trade-off analysis, and prioritization to unblock delivery and reduce risk.Help interpret roadmap-level technical strategy in partnership with Staff Architecture and senior stakeholders, ensuring near-term delivery aligns with long-term platform and governance objectives.Qualifications:8+ years of professional software engineering experienceDeep expertise in Golang, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecturesStrong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub, CI/CD pipelinesProven experience leading end-to-end delivery of large-scale systemsAdvanced knowledge of testing, observability, and production operationsDemonstrated ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholdersStrong written and visual communication skills for technical documentation and diagramsThis is a remote position.
