Are you a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in quality work? Join our team as a Facilities Senior Maintenance Technician and help build, maintain, and repair the public facilities, parks, and buildings our community relies on every day. In this versatile role, you'll perform skilled work in construction, renovation, installation, and repair across multiple trades-including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, concrete, painting, and welding. From framing walls and installing cabinets to troubleshooting electrical systems, repairing plumbing, pouring concrete, or fabricating metal, no two days are the same. You'll work from blueprints, diagrams, and work orders to plan projects, estimate materials, and complete both scheduled and emergency repairs. You'll operate a variety of power and manual tools, ensure all work meets local, state, and federal codes, and maintain accurate records. Depending on your experience, you may also provide guidance and direction to a crew, monitor project progress, and assist with complex technical challenges. Two (2) years of experience in facilities maintenance and skilled trades work. Licenses and/or Certificates:Must maintain a valid driver's license. Depending on position assignment...if assigned to work within the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office/Justice Center/Jail additional background checks will be required: Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) FALCON Your Purpose & Day-To-Day Journey The ideal candidate brings a strong working knowledge of departmental policies and modern office practices, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and other job-related software. They understand standard trade methods, tools, materials, basic structural principles, and workplace safety requirements. This role requires skill in operating and maintaining power and hand tools, light-duty trucks, and office equipment, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and sketches, calculate project quantities, and prepare schedules. Successful candidates communicate clearly, maintain accurate records and reports, and use sound judgment in applying policies and procedures. They are organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines, detect and repair defects, perform heavy manual labor, and solve problems with resourcefulness and tact. The position also calls for the ability to work effectively in a team environment, provide excellent internal and external customer service, and, when appropriate, lead and direct the work of others. Extra Details You Should Know PHYSICAL DEMANDS Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, climbing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception. Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is exposed to one or more disagreeable conditions (i.e., irate customers, outdoors weather conditions, excessive noise, extreme heat, odors, or dust). RISK/SAFETY CONDITIONS The position requires moderate exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety (e.g., exposure to environmentally hazardous material, heavy equipment, assault and battery, communicable disease, etc.).
