Senior DevOps Engineer - AWS Expert

Overview GovCIO is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer specializing in DevSecOps. In this role, you will play a key part in the development, support, and architecture of a government application that is transitioning to the AWS cloud. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere while making a significant impact. Responsibilities Design, build, and implement applications using tools such as Java, Angular, and AWS technologies. Provide necessary patches and upgrades to existing systems while ensuring adherence to software standards. Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle for AWS solutions, from initial planning through quality assurance. Troubleshoot and resolve incidents effectively, documenting solutions and applying preventive measures. Educate cross-functional teams about new cloud initiatives and provide necessary training. Create architectural blueprints for AWS-centered hybrid cloud infrastructures. Ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of quality solutions that satisfy client needs. Engage in defining architecture for cloud initiatives while applying industry best practices. Develop and document technical content, including white papers to share insights and knowledge. Collaborate with team members on project management tasks and planning. Optimize cloud product development and deployment processes with automation and debugging techniques. Implement disaster recovery plans and set up blue-green environments for robust system performance. Continuously evaluate and implement the best cloud technology stacks tailored for various projects. Manage system modifications and updates post-release systematically. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience in a related field. 8+ years of professional experience in solutions design and engineering focused on AWS and similar platforms. Proven expertise in configuring CI/CD environments using tools like GitLab and Agile methodologies. Experience in maintaining system reliability, including load balancing, monitoring, and logging. Extensive experience in fully automating CI/CD pipelines and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies. Strong proficiency in UNIX/Linux environments and automation tools like Terraform and Ansible. Deep understanding of cloud architecture, including Microservices and security protocols. AWS certification is preferred and will be considered an asset. Excellent problem-solving skills paired with strong communication abilities. Capability to perform various levels of testing throughout project stages. Familiarity with security protocols and optimizations in a cloud environment. Clearance Required: Must be able to acquire and maintain a Public Trust. Preferred Skills and Experience Existing security clearance is advantageous. Database administration skills. Posted Salary Range The expected salary for this position ranges from USD $124,540.00 to $155,000.00 per year, depending on experience and other factors.
