Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a Durable Medical Equipment Specialist. This role involves providing daily clinical services related to medical supplies and equipment, ensuring patients receive proper fittings and support for their devices. Key Responsibilities Perform patient equipment set-ups, fittings, and follow-ups to ensure compliance with usage for reimbursement purposes. Clean and conduct basic functional tests on medical equipment. Assist with billing processes, ensuring all documentation meets insurance requirements such as Certificates of Medical Necessity and Assignment of Benefits. Track and report inventory levels of medical supplies. Deliver equipment to patients' homes when necessary and coordinate equipment transfers within healthcare facilities. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance regulations as well as current medical equipment options. Participate in quality monitoring and process improvement activities related to durable medical equipment. Adhere to infection prevention protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment during patient interactions. Handle hazardous materials safely following SDS guidelines. Provide emotional support to patients and families, and communicate patient status to interdisciplinary team members promptly. Assist in mentoring and orienting new staff members. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Education and Certifications Valid LPN licensure. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Completion of Mandatory Reporter training within six months of hire. Experience and Requirements Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Limited liability insurance coverage with minimum limits of $100,000 Each/$300,000 Aggregate or $300,000 Combined Single Limit. Ability to perform physical job demands with or without reasonable accommodations. Strong customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with patients, families, and healthcare staff. Commitment to compliance with federal, state, and professional licensure standards. This position is based in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest, offering a supportive and dynamic work environment dedicated to patient care and quality service.
