Job Description

Services and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related environmental control systems for all buildings and facilities at the Evangeline Booth College. Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to water chillers and associated equipment to include cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, water treatment and filtration systems. Works on DX systems with advanced controls circuits and multiple compressors, compound refrigeration, large built up & reciprocating systems, centrifugal and rotary screw chillers. Three years of experience working on split systems, VAV systems, RTU's, DX systems, heat pumps, refrigeration, dehumidifiers, humidity controls, control panels, and associated equipment and five years of experience working on chillers sized 20+ tons and up including cooling towers, water sourced heat pumps, water filtration, water treatment, automated controls hardware / software, and associated equipment Troubleshoots, services, and replaces HVAC equipment and controls ranging from 1-20+ tons cooling capacity. (Class V must be able to troubleshoot and service centrifugal and rotary screw chillers). Performs advanced repairs, overhaul, disassembly, reassembly, and modification to Utility Plant water chillers, pumps, and fans. Reads and interprets drawings, diagrams, and schematics. Troubleshoots and repairs complex commercial equipment such as Chillers, Boilers, VRF systems, water source heat pumps, and cooling towers. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs to all levels of HVAC systems including Building Automation Control Systems. Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair units. Repairs or replaces split systems, VAV systems, RTU's, DX systems, refrigeration equipment, motors, compressors, temperature controls, dehumidifiers, humidity controls, fans, and control panels. Joins tubing or pipes by means of threaded fittings, sweating, and brazing. Communicates orally and written with department personnel and management for the purpose of receiving and advising on matters concerning HVAC/R operation, maintenance, and repair. Demonstrates familiarity with Excel, Word, Buildings Control Systems and a working knowledge of related application software. Universal refrigerant certification required.
