Position Type: Summer School Date Posted: 3/3/2026 Location: Summer A2Virtual Closing Date: 04/01/2024 District: Ann Arbor Public Schools POSITION TITLE: Secondary Summer School A2 Virtual+ PrincipalPOSITION LOCATION: A2 Virtual+EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: March 2026 - August 2026RATE OF PAY: $65.43/hrREPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Assistant Superintendent, Teaching and Learning, A2Virtual+ Secondary Principal POSITION OVERVIEW The Summer Term Secondary A2 Virtual+ Principal provides leadership and oversight for the district's online summer program. This role includes supervising staff, supporting students, coordinating program logistics, and ensuring high-quality instruction in a virtual learning environment. QUALIFICATIONS The following qualifications are preferred; any may be waived by the Board of Education: Demonstrated ability to support students and staff in an online learning environment, including those facing academic challenges. Experience leading or supporting an online or blended learning program (preferred). Proficiency with online learning platforms and supporting others in their use. Valid administrative certification or current enrollment in an administrative certification program (required). WORK SCHEDULE & EXPECTATIONS Approximately 50 hours of preparatory work from April 1st - June 12th, including: Hiring staff. Collaborating with teachers and curriculum coordinators. Attending Board of Education meetings and Parent Information Sessions. Approximately 250 hours, during the summer term, June 15th - July 31st: Six to eight-hour workdays. Oversight of daily program operations. The principal is responsible to supervise in-person weekly proctoring events. KEY RESPONSIBILITES PROGRAM LEADERSHIP & OPERATIONS Lead and supervise summer school staff, including orientation and ongoing support. Coordinate program logistics, including registration, facilities, and system setup. Facilitate communication with staff, students, and families. Develop and deliver presentations for the Board of Education and parent community. STUDENT & STAFF SUPPORT Support student engagement and success in an online learning environment. Provide training and ongoing support to staff on instructional platforms and best practices. Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment. Uphold and communicate A2 Virtual+ policies, including academic integrity expectations. SYSTEM & TECHNOLOGY OVERSIGHT Oversee use, support, and end-of-term archiving for platforms including: Schoology. APEX. ALEKS. Edgenuity. Michigan Virtual SLP (Mentoring Portal). Community Resource (CR) courses. Utilize or learn systems such as: MyPayments Plus. Autocrat. Michigan Virtual SLP Registration Portal. Schoology PowerSchool grade integration. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Train staff on platform use, course consistency, and A2 Virtual+ expectations. Support the identification of AI misuse and plagiarism. Monitor student progress using time, usage, and performance data. Communicate effectively with families and stakeholders. Travel between locations as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. SKILLS & COMPETENCIESCOMMUNICATION Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly present information to staff, students, families, and administrators. Experience creating and delivering parent and staff presentations. LEADERSHIP & ORGANIZATION Strong time management and organizational skills. TECHNICAL & INSTRUCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of online learning systems and competency-based instruction. Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues. Understanding of middle and high school learners. Ability to analyze and use student data to inform decisions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. Frequent computer use. Vision abilities include close vision and focus adjustment. WORK ENVIROMENT Moderate to loud noise levels. Frequent interaction with students, staff, and families. Responsibility for student safety, well-being, and program outcomes. Requires consistent attendance at meetings and scheduled sessions.
