Job Description We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Data Center Facilities Development Manager to spearhead onsite construction efforts for data centers managed by colocation providers. This pivotal role plays a vital part in ensuring projects are efficiently delivered on schedule while meeting the highest quality and design standards. Responsibilities Project Oversight: Ensure a physical presence at the construction site for major data centers, guaranteeing that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and uphold the highest quality standards. Schedule Management: Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers for timely milestone delivery. Validate progress against field schedules. Risk Evaluation: Analyze projects independently to assess risk profiles, identify and address gaps in risk management, and communicate potential impacts to the business. Tenant Fit-Out Integration: Collaborate closely during design, construction, and commissioning to ensure integration of tenant fit-out projects with the DCIB teams. Quality Assurance: Implement robust quality control processes to ensure all construction activities align with design specifications and industry standards, raising concerns when needed. Design Coordination: Work with design teams to ensure construction activities are in accordance with approved plans and specifications. Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the company and colocation providers, facilitating effective communication and decision-making. Risk Management: Identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies to guarantee project success. Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities adhere to relevant regulations, codes, and standards. Continuous Improvement: Provide insights for the ongoing evaluation of colocation providers to foster continuous improvement. Onsite Presence: Maintain a physical presence onsite 50-100% of the time, depending on project demands, to ensure schedules, coordination, and quality throughout the project lifespan. Some projects may be international. Required Skills Building Construction Knowledge: In-depth understanding of data center construction covering civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing. Startup and Commissioning Expertise: Proven expertise in managing startup and commissioning phases for data center projects. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to tackle complex challenges in dynamic construction environments. Technical Acumen: Familiarity with data center design, construction, and operational requirements, particularly focusing on advanced technologies and sustainability. Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to deliver data center construction projects on time and within budget. Leadership Capabilities: Proven track record of leading teams under pressure, mentoring, and inspiring diverse groups of professionals. Budget Management: Expertise in managing and optimizing project budgets for cost-effective resource utilization. Financial Review Skills: Extensive experience with invoice review, approvals, and change order management. Risk Management Skills: A talent for identifying risks and crafting effective strategies to minimize project impacts. Vendor Management Experience: Strong experience in managing contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance in all construction undertakings. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities for efficient stakeholder engagement and project updates. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. This is a full-time onsite position in Santa Teresa, NM. Minimum of 10 years of construction project management experience focused on data center or colocation infrastructure. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale construction projects. Solid understanding of construction processes, quality control, and design coordination. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving capabilities. Able to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
