Medical Assistant The Medical Assistant supports both family medicine and psychiatric providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate both physical health and behavioral health care needs. Key Responsibilities Assist physicians and providers with exams, procedures, and treatments. Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure readiness for each patient encounter. Record patient vitals, history, and updates accurately in the EHR system. Provide patient education, appointment preparation instructions, and follow-up information. Support clinical operations including scheduling, chart preparation, and patient flow management. Maintain clinical supplies, cleanliness, and infection-control compliance. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and supporting administrative staff. Tools and Technology Electronic Health Record (EHR):AdvancedMD, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar health information system. Medical Equipment:Blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, thermometers, stethoscopes, otoscopes, and scales. Laboratory Tools:Specimen collection kits (urinalysis, swabs), centrifuges, and electronic lab ordering portals. Office and Communication Tools:Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), HIPAA-compliant messaging platforms, and phone systems. Telehealth Platforms:Doxy.me, Zoom for Healthcare, or integrated EHR telehealth modules for virtual visits. Special Software/Hardware Skills Ability to enter, update, and review clinical data in an EHR system. Familiarity with e-prescribing modules and medication reconciliation tools. Comfortable using digital scheduling systems and secure patient communication portals. Operation of patient monitoring and diagnostic equipment following universal precautions. Basic understanding of billing, prior authorization processes, and insurance verification tools. Other Specific Skills Required Strong understanding of HIPAAand infection control protocols. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillswith patients and multidisciplinary teams. Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional in both medical and mental health contexts. Strong organizational skillswith the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
