Network Security Engineer - Firewalls & F5

Job Description Exos is seeking a Network Security Engineer (focused on Firewalls & F5 technologies) to support a large, regulated environment. This engineer will have a heavy focus on Palo Alto Networks solutions and supporting a high volume of security and network initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can own delivery work, troubleshoot complex issues when something is not behaving as expected, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Cybersecurity knowledge and experience in converting security policies into practical technical solutions is a strong plus. Description: Designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise firewall solutions, with a primary focus on Palo Alto Networks firewalls. Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting F5 technologies (e.g., LTM, GTM/DNS, ASM or similar modules) in a complex environment. Building, maintaining, and optimizing firewall and application delivery policies, rule sets, and related configurations to support business and security requirements. Serving as a hands-on engineer for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring high-quality, on-time implementation. Troubleshooting and resolving complex network and security issues across firewalls, F5 platforms, and related infrastructure. Working closely with security architects and other stakeholders to translate security and compliance policies into technical controls and solutions. Documenting designs, changes, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for ongoing operations and support. Collaborating with cross-functional teams (network, security, application, and operations) and communicating clearly with stakeholders who may not have deep cybersecurity experience. Supporting additional firewall platforms as needed (e.g., SAP-related firewalls or other vendor solutions). Job RequirementsRequirements: 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Security Engineer, Firewall Engineer, or similar role. Strong, practical experience with enterprise firewalls, ideally including Palo Alto Networks (policy creation, rule tuning, troubleshooting, and upgrades). Solid experience with F5 technologies in production environments (load balancing, traffic management, and/or application security). Proven experience supporting or delivering solutions in regulated environments (e.g., financial services, healthcare, utilities, or other highly governed industries). Demonstrated ability to independently deliver technical work while also escalating and collaborating effectively when needed. Strong troubleshooting skills across network and security layers, including root-cause analysis and remediation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders who may not be deeply technical.
