Job Description This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Media Services team, where you will tackle complex technical challenges and lead the development of cloud services that enable innovative consumer video applications. As a Lead Principal Engineer, you will design and develop cloud services while mentoring a talented group of software developers. We are looking for someone with a solid background in leading the design, development, and operation of enterprise-level cloud services. Experience and knowledge in media services, particularly in video applications, is highly sought after. Your role will demand technical expertise along with strong interpersonal skills. You will guide fellow engineers and collaborate across teams, driving complex technical projects with significant autonomy while setting and maintaining high standards for delivery within the team. Responsibilities Design, implement, validate, and document significant components of a distributed, service-oriented architecture as a recognized technical leader. Your designs will serve as benchmarks in key areas such as availability, scalability, observability, and testability. Lead important projects and enhance the collective capability of the team through active mentorship and coaching of engineering colleagues. Ensure automated and reliable deployment of services from end-to-end, including foundational infrastructure and dependencies. Keep updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive innovation and ensure compliance within the organization. Launch new cloud services and promote operational excellence. Collaborate with architects and technical leads to define, shape, and achieve the team's technical vision. Effectively work across geographically distributed engineering teams. Establish and enforce software development standards, processes, and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with over 5 years of experience in software development using modern programming languages. Experience with Java and/or Go is required. Proven experience in large-scale software development, particularly for cloud services and distributed systems. A relevant background in Video Streaming, Real-Time Communications (WebRTC), or Social Networking is a plus. Previous experience as a lead developer, especially on new or greenfield cloud service projects. Expertise in developing, deploying, and maintaining highly scalable cloud microservices using Kubernetes. A solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (compute, identity, network, storage) and deployment automation tools such as Terraform, Chef, Puppet, or similar. Demonstrable experience building and operating highly available services in a DevOps environment as a technical leader. Experience in collaborating with global teams. A proactive approach with a strong sense of ownership and initiative, ready to contribute where needed to help deliver a new product. Salary Range: This position has a hiring range in USD from $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. Eligibility for bonus and equity may apply.
