Position Type: Administration/Principal Date Posted: 3/5/2026 Location: Salem School Date Available: 07/01/2026 Closing Date: Until Filled School Principal (PK-8) Type and Extent of Training Required: CT Certification as an Intermediate Administrator (092) Masters Degree Minimum of 5 years teaching experience Prior experience as a building-level administrator desirable Current CT teaching certification, which must be maintained Degree of Responsibility Assumed: Manages the overall administration of instructional programs and school operations. Provides leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Oversees compliance with District/BOE policies, success of instructional programs and operation of all school activities. Major Areas of Responsibility Include: Instructional Leadership: Education leaders ensure the success and achievement of all students by developing a shared vision, mission and goals focused on high expectations for all students, and by monitoring and continuously improving curriculum, instruction and assessment. Talent Management: Education leaders ensure the success and achievement of all students by implementing practices to recruit, select, support and retain highly qualified staff, and by demonstrating a commitment to high-quality systems for professional learning. Organizational Systems: Education leaders ensure the success and achievement of all students by managing organizational systems and resources for a safe, high-performing learning environment. Culture and Climate: Education leaders ensure the success and achievement of all students by collaborating with families and other stakeholders to respond to diverse community needs and interests, by promoting a positive culture and climate, and by modeling ethical behavior and integrity.
