Role name: Release Manager Work site: Seattle (Onsite) A Release Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the entire software release process, ensuring that software products are delivered on time, with high quality, and according to business requirements. Key Responsibilities Release Planning and Coordination Develop and maintain release schedules and roadmaps Coordinate cross-functional teams (development, QA, operations, product management) throughout the release lifecycle Facilitate release planning meetings and status updates Manage dependencies between different components and teams Release Process Management Establish and enforce release policies, procedures, and standards Oversee build, deployment, and configuration management processes Coordinate code freezes, branching strategies, and version control Manage release environments and infrastructure requirements Quality Assurance Ensure all release criteria and quality gates are met before deployment Review test results and quality metrics Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) activities Manage defect tracking and resolution for release candidates Risk Management Identify, document, and mitigate release-related risks Develop contingency plans for potential release issues Manage scope changes and feature prioritization during release cycles Coordinate rollback procedures if necessary Communication and Documentation Provide regular status updates to stakeholders Create and maintain release notes and documentation Facilitate post-release retrospectives to identify improvements Communicate release impacts to customer support and end users Qualifications Required Skills 3 years of experience in software release management or similar role Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Knowledge of version control systems (Git, SVN, etc.) Excellent project management and organizational skills Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities Preferred Skills Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) Familiarity with release management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.) Understanding of infrastructure automation and configuration management Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) ITIL certification or knowledge of ITIL practices Technical background in software development or system administration Working Conditions May require occasional after-hours work during release windows Ability to work under pressure during critical release periods May need to coordinate with global teams across different time zones
