JOB SUMMARY Strategic sourcing of qualified vendor, negotiate both annual agreements and one time deals, execution of purchase orders, and develop and maintain vendor relationships. Responsibilities include: Successfully negotiating contracts and payment terms as well as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) pricing Negotiating formula pricing structures based on familiarity with commodities used in typical manufacturing processes Working knowledge of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs and ability to implement these from start to finish Assertively building a qualified base of vendors and continually expand industry expertise Purchasing point of contact for assigned business divisions Supply chain and purchase order management Additional items as assigned by manager PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY This position interacts with Customers, Outside Sales Reps, Vendors, Engineering, Operations, Product Managers, Accounting, Receiving, Quality, and Production. COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS Basic familiarity with drawings and specifications. Strong, cross-functional communication skills, detail oriented, MS office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfortable working with ERP systems. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong ability to establish rapport. Ability to work under pressure. Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing commodity assignments. Timely disposition of RTV items. Understanding of MRP planning. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelors or Associates degree required. 5+ years of experience as Buyer in Manufacturing Environment.
