Position Overview The Assistant Restaurant Manager (ARM) is primed to support the Restaurant General Manager while taking on significant responsibilities to ensure effective restaurant operations. The key aspects of this role include: Delivering outstanding customer service. Upholding company standards in product quality and facility maintenance. Supervising food safety and operational processes. Managing basic financial controls to achieve profit margin objectives. The ARM will also engage in comprehensive responsibilities including financial oversight, training crew members, and selecting potential employees under the guidance of the RGM. This role involves active participation in daily operations, addressing customer service needs, and modeling exemplary behaviors for team members. We seek an ARM who is geared towards becoming a Restaurant General Manager (RGM) within 18 months. The ideal candidate reflects strong leadership capabilities, demonstrating readiness for growth through continued training. Those without progress in their Individual Development Plan within the first year may face demotion or termination. Key Responsibilities Customer Satisfaction and Product Quality: Ensure rapid, accurate service and maintain positive customer relationships while aligning products with company quality standards. Promote a customer-centric culture by exemplifying problem resolution skills and training staff to meet or surpass service expectations. Analyze and address sources of customer complaints. Ensure compliance with food safety standards. Financial Management: Assist in developing and guiding the annual operating plan for the restaurant. Continuously assess sales, labor, inventory, and other controllable expenses to ensure financial targets are met. Coach and mentor team members on financial accountability and profitability strategies. Oversee CAPEX requests and manage vendor relations. Operational Excellence: Ensure restaurant facilities and equipment meet company standards. Monitor inventory and food preparation processes daily to uphold company standards. Set and monitor restaurant service speed (SWS) objectives and troubleshoot issues to meet goals. Create and oversee weekly management and crew schedules. Human Resources Oversight: Oversee all HR activities within the restaurant including: Accountability for crew hiring and development decisions. Implementing training programs and performance management strategies. Addressing employee relations issues and guiding employees through their growth. Conducting ongoing training for management staff and preparing them for higher responsibilities. Ensure compliance with work environment standards and equitable treatment of employees. Success Measures Successfully achieve the annual operating plan for the restaurant. Show improvement in profit margins compared to previous sales data. Monitor weekly restaurant performance on sales, labor, and cost of goods sold (COGS). Achieve positive results from customer satisfaction surveys. Manage employee turnover rates while ensuring optimal staffing levels. Qualifications Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates excellence in customer service, ensuring high standards of product quality and service speed. Strong leadership and delegation skills for effective team coordination. Sound business acumen with the ability to analyze financial data and drive performance. Commitment to team development through coaching, training, and providing feedback. Expertise in restaurant operations, food safety standards, and equipment handling. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Experience in a supervisory role in food service or retail. Proven success in managing financial controls and leading hourly employees. Record of delivering exceptional customer satisfaction and financial performance.
