Description TITLE: Job Description and Evaluation Basis - Finance Manager REPORTS TO: Vice President of Finance & Administration RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out supervisory/managerial responsibility per policies, procedures and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring and training staff; planning, assigning and directing work; establishing deadlines; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; coordinating, developing and approving staff training; approving leave requests; and addressing complaints and resolving problems in a professional manor. Ensure compliance with CVB policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board guidelines. Assists in merging budget needs with required accounting and audit practices. Writes and implements new and updated accounting procedures. Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for bank accounts; review trial balance, revenue and expense reports, and weekly Cash Analysis reports; prepare financial reports to facilitate accuracy in the annual audit process. Review A/P checks and supporting documents. Verify available funds in all checking accounts. Maintain CD tracker worksheet, oversee the management of CVB credit cards and preparation of year-end 1099's. Serve as part of the team for the independent Annual audit. Review every account on the ledger before turning over books each year. Provide information to auditors and assist in the audit process; receive and process required forms and documents; prepare required reports and correspondence; gather and verify information; adjust accounting ledgers and reports; post audit adjustments. Gather information and prepare all financial reports and statements, analysis, and special statistical reports to assist management with operations and financial planning. Monitor spending to ensure it is within the approved budget and process adjustments as needed. Coordinate preparing and reviewing revenue forecasts and expenditure requests for all departments to produce budgets for the Operating, Sports Commission and Special Events Funds for approval by the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors. Manage Purchase Requisitions/Purchase Order System, including a review and approval of requisitions. Review Simpleview inventory records to manage promotion merchandise stock. Supervise and support the finance and human resource specialists. Maintain confidentiality by exercising discretion in the performance of duties. Assure the protection of assets through internal audit and inventory control. Serve as backup for the VP of Administration and Finance during absence. Participate in staff review and department planning sessions. In the event of an occurrence or anticipated occurrence that produces a mandatory evacuation order for the CVB tax district, the employee is responsible for physically reporting to a location designated by the President/CEO within 48 hours of the time of the occurrence. Perform other duties necessary for the CVB to accomplish its mission as requested. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree or higher in accounting or related field and 3+ years of related experience. Proven knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles and practices. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to analyze, report and interpret financial data. Ability to direct and supervise. Experience with an automated accounting system is required. NetSuite experience preferred. Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Word. Working knowledge of Alabama Sales & Use tax laws Able to be bonded. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to communicate effectively, manipulate data, perform operational tasks, and operate office equipment. Have dependable transportation and a current driver's license. Ability to lift 15 pounds to transport and use financial documents and records. Flexibility to carry out responsibilities on evenings and weekends.
