Open positions may arise anytime based on business needs. Department Overview The Electric Operations team ensures safe and reliable electric service for our customers. This includes planning, engineering, maintenance, construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response for PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations. Position Summary This classification is represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 1245, an organization with over a century of experience in supporting PG&E employees. This position may require review and approval from the Joint Apprentice Training Committee (JATC). Provisional hires will undergo specific training to ensure they achieve journey-level expertise in electrician duties and responsibilities. Please note: According to letter of agreement (LOA) 23-36; all new employees hired into specific classifications in the San Francisco Division ONLY will receive a 15% pay premium and have a bid lock for three (3) years. Moreover, employees in Peninsula, De Anza, East Bay, and Mission divisions are eligible for a 10% pay premium and the same bid lock period. General Construction (GC) Candidates for GC positions must be prepared to travel and may need to transfer to new headquarters upon request throughout the entire PG&E service territory without guarantee on the duration away from home. Review, verify, and adapt prints and electric schematics. Prepare materials for installation, including conduit, steel, wires, junction boxes, and tools, while also placing supply orders as needed. Stage equipment and perform safety preparations, including setting up high voltage protective grounding. Utilize power and hand tools to install equipment and systems such as wire terminations, high voltage equipment, overhead and underground electrical systems, steel structures, control panels, metering, and protection systems. Set up rigging and pull wire. Operate construction equipment if qualified, including crane trucks, man lifts, boom trucks, and bucket trucks as part of installation tasks and site preparation. Operate forklifts to move equipment. Use hand and power tools, including jackhammers and shovels for soil removal and replacement. Dismantle old high voltage equipment and structures using heavy equipment, rigging, and other tools. Drive equipment to job sites and may transport equipment from one location to another or travel to collect tools and materials. Maintain a clean and safe work area; remove trash, debris, and surplus materials while organizing tools. Be available for overtime as needed. PG&E provides this hourly rate based on what the company believes it can pay at the time of posting. The starting wage for this position is $68.56 per hour, influenced by factors like skills, education, licenses, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Qualifications - Minimum: Must be at least 18 years old. Must have a High School diploma or GED. Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver's License. Must provide proof of successful completion of a Union Sanctioned JATC Inside Wireman Electrician Apprenticeship. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Safe driving capability under various weather and road conditions. Willingness to travel/transfer anywhere across PG&E service territory without guaranteed return home duration for GC positions. Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Capability of working in remote locations with possible exposure to environmental hazards. Must wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). If hired provisionally, must successfully complete the training plan within 12 months of hire. CA CDL Class A Permit or equivalent is required, adhering to driver/vehicle ratios. Desired: 3-5 years of journey-level experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction. Experience with PG&E construction or utility operations. Familiarity with electronic or mechanical equipment. Instrumentation and Control knowledge. Motor Control experience. Previous work in Electrical Substation or Power Generation. High voltage experience. Experience in testing equipment and troubleshooting.
