Get to Know the Role: We are looking for a dynamic Senior Staff Engineer to lead our Merchandise Planning and Allocation (MP&A) Engineering team. This position combines technical leadership and hands-on development, focusing on setting the architectural direction for Enterprise Retail Systems and modern Data Flow architectures. You will be instrumental in shaping solutions for key initiatives while actively contributing to builds and support. What You Will Do: Act as the primary technical authority within the MP&A team. Design and architect MP&A applications such as MFP, Allocation, and Assortment Planning. Define and implement integration strategies across Assortment Planning, Merchandise Financial Planning, Fulfillment, and other enterprise systems. Ensure scalability, security, and high performance for all MP&A solutions. Collaborate with business users, functional leads, and vendors to transform requirements into effective technical solutions and resolve any issues. Establish and advocate best practices in coding, testing, integration, and version control (Bitbucket/Git). Provide mentorship and technical leadership to engineers and analysts on the team. Manage the complete engineering lifecycle: design, development, testing, and deployment. Deliver Level 3 production support, including root cause analysis and permanent solutions. Drive technical solutions across MP&A applications, coding in SQL, PL/SQL, Python, Java, and Shell as required. Develop and maintain ETL data pipelines and automation processes to meet evolving business needs. Address diverse technical challenges across systems, embracing new tools or technologies to deliver effective solutions. What You Will Bring: 10+ years of experience in IT, specifically within retail systems, with a strong emphasis on Planning & Allocation. Proven track record in technical architecture for enterprise retail solutions. Comprehensive understanding of the retail application ecosystem and its interactions. Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, including working with cross-functional groups and vendors. Hands-on integration experience between retail applications, data warehouses, and SaaS applications. Strong technical skills with retail data models and databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL. Expert-level SQL skills. Proficient in programming languages such as Python, PL/SQL, Java, and Linux Shell scripting. Experience in modern integration architectures, including data flow pipelines and orchestration frameworks like Apache Airflow. Familiarity with integration patterns (batch, APIs, and real-time). Proficient with Agile/DevOps tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Experience with cloud platforms and data warehouses like BigQuery or Snowflake. Familiarity with batch scheduling tools such as Control-M. Specific experience with Blue Yonder/JDA applications (Fulfillment, Enterprise Planning, Assortment Planning). Acquainted with Core Merchandising systems (RMS/Island Pacific), WMS, or OMS.
