Job Description: Home Infusion Registered Nurse Purpose Statement Home infusion therapy (HIT) allows patients to receive specialized infusion therapy in their own homes, enhancing their autonomy and comfort. As a Home Infusion RN, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-notch patient care to adult patients, focusing on various treatments such as IVIG, monoclonal antibodies, enzyme replacement, and clotting factors using multiple administration methods. This role requires a unique mix of clinical proficiency and compassionate interaction with patients. You will report directly to the Area Director of Infusion Services. Required Education and Experience Current and valid RN license. Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required; hospital infusion experience preferred. Exceptional IV skills and a strong passion for patient care. Solid clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a home care setting. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) documentation. Certification in infusion therapy (CRNI) is a plus. Preferred expertise in pediatrics and adult medical care. Responsibilities Administer infusion therapies per physician orders, following established protocols for IVIG, monoclonal antibodies, and other treatments. Monitor and assess patients during therapy to ensure safety and effectiveness. Educate patients and families about infusion procedures, side effects, and self-care practices. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized patient care plans. Provide comprehensive patient assessments addressing physical and psychosocial needs. Document patient care activities and treatment outcomes promptly and accurately. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on industry best practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Environment This position requires travel to patients' homes and other clinical settings as needed. On-call responsibilities will vary, including day, evening, weekends, and holidays, per individual employee agreement. Physical Demands Candidates must be capable of lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. This role entails potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous substances, requiring adherence to safety protocols including proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as closed-toe shoes, facemask, gown, gloves, and goggles when necessary. A reliable communication device is also essential during routine and emergency situations.
