Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPlant ControllerLocation: Woodridge, ILDepartment: Accounting / FinanceEmployment Type: Full-TimeReports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)Compensation: $110,000 – $135,000 Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and hands-on Plant Controller to lead financial operations at a manufacturing facility in Woodridge, IL. This role serves as a key business partner to plant and operations leadership, delivering financial insight, analysis, and strategic guidance to support operational performance, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.The Plant Controller is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, product costing, inventory control, fixed assets, and capital planning. This role will also play a critical part in an ongoing ERP implementation, transitioning to Microsoft Business Central, and requires strong systems expertise within a manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Financial Performance & Analysis Lead monthly financial close, reporting, and variance analysis for plant operations Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory records across all plant inventory movements Monitor plant and production line performance using appropriate leading and lagging metrics Partner with plant leadership to identify and drive cost savings and margin improvement initiatives Investigate and explain manufacturing variances, providing timely and actionable insights Deliver ad hoc financial and operational analyses to support informed decision-making Support business development and margin improvement initiatives through financial modeling Ensure compliance with company policies related to safety, security, and GMP standards Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant and business objectives Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning Lead annual budgeting and standard cost development processes Develop detailed financial plans covering direct labor, indirect labor, variable overhead, and fixed overhead Prepare monthly forecasts and forward-looking financial analyses Partner with operations to align financial plans with production and business goals Capital Planning & Control Review and evaluate capital expenditure requests for financial justification and strategic alignment Serve as a financial resource throughout capital project planning and execution Analyze capital investments related to growth, efficiency, and margin improvement ERP & Systems Leadership Serve as a subject matter expert for ERP functionality across finance and operations Analyze and optimize system workflows, security, and integration points Stay current on ERP updates and enhancements, recommending system and process improvements Support ERP upgrades and implementations by assessing impact and developing transition strategies QualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required Advanced degree (MBA, MS, CPA, CMA) preferred Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing or plant finance experience 3+ years of financial and operational leadership in a manufacturing environment Experience with Microsoft Business Central strongly preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting and inventory management Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and analysis Proven ability to partner with operations and influence business decisions Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Experience supporting ERP implementations or system transitions Work Environment & Physical Requirements Combination of office, production, and warehouse environments Exposure to cold environments (-10°reeF to 40°reeF), loud noise, dust, odors, and varying temperatures Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
