Job Description

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with offices in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida, alongside technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa. We specialize in program management and facilities engineering services globally, primarily supporting the US Department of Defense (DOD) and other federal agencies. As a Design Project Manager, you will oversee and manage design projects that align with the planning and design goals set forth in the project management plan (PMP) for the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Your role is crucial in ensuring design work is completed efficiently while mitigating disruptions and minimizing overall costs. The position is based in Reno, NV, with occasional travel to Seattle, Washington. Key Responsibilities: Manage designated design projects to meet the planning and design goals of the VA, ensuring capital project management processes lead to timely and budget-compliant completion. Collaborate with the Project Development Team (PDT) to establish a clear project scope, optimizing program efficiency and lifecycle cost. Utilize comprehensive project management knowledge and standards to ensure timely project completion, adapting procedures as needed for critical deadlines. Work alongside the Project Manager (PM) and Contracting Officer (CO) to select qualified engineers/architects and identify additional studies needed for quality design outcomes. Oversee day-to-day operations of the designer of record (DOR) and associated consultants, ensuring quality design adheres to cost and time constraints. Participate actively in design reviews and cross-functional meetings to fulfill business and functional design needs. Contribute to the development of design and construction standards to guarantee high-quality project execution and compliance with sustainability plans. Create systems to monitor design projects against budget and schedule. Lead timely decision-making to resolve design issues, offer solutions to engineers and architects, and enhance cost-effectiveness in facility design. Review contracts, scopes of work, and plans to ensure compliance with project milestones while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Fulfill additional tasks as required by the PDT to deliver project design and PMP. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering. At least five (5) years of experience managing design projects in alignment with planning and design standards. Strong ability to conduct research and analyze technical and cost data. Knowledge of acquisition policy, regulations, and directives. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
