Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Clinical Education | Work Hours: Days | Weekend Requirements: N/A | 1.0 FTE Job Summary Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs to meet the clinical orientation, competency, and continuing education needs of nursing and other clinical staff. As a Manager at Owensboro Health, you lead daily operations and team performance within your assigned unit or department. You champion our Safety Culture and foster continuous improvement and Target Zero performance. You are responsible for implementing policies, managing workflows, and supporting staff development. You play a critical role in advancing patient safety, reducing harm, achieving departmental goals and promoting a just culture through hands-on leadership and proactive problem-solving. Job Responsibilities Hires, trains, and manages the on-going development and evaluation of nursing and support staff in the department. Identifies and resolves issues related to education and training needs of clinical staff in collaboration with managers and directors of the nursing division. Manages the efforts of educators and support staff to facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical orientation, nurse residency, ongoing competency validation, continuing education programs, and learning activities to meet identified staff learning needs, patient care needs, and regulatory requirements. Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services. Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget. Monitors and/or approves expenditures, purchases, and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines. Serves as Nurse Administrator for Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) Continued Education Providership. Acts as liaison for University of Louisville's BSN program at Owensboro Health, coordinating support for the program including instructional activities. Acts as liaison for and collaborates with region's schools of nursing to provide clinical opportunities for students and participates in advisory councils as requested. Coordinates clinical resources to support the training needs of those programs. Manages and coordinates patient/family education programming, improvement efforts, and provides staff with the education necessary for effective use of patient education resources. Manages the provision of inpatient and outpatient Diabetes Education Services and staff. Collaborates with Organizational Development in the on-going provision and improvement of organizational orientation. Ensures department compliance with regulatory and The Joint Commission requirements. Conflict Resolution - Identifies and addresses conflicts within the team, facilitating constructive dialogue, and finding solutions to disagreements. Change Management - Leads and adapts to organizational changes, communicating effectively during transitions, and engages the team in the process. Leadership Development - Actively engages in the Leadership Development Program by enrolling in the program within the first 6 months of employment and completing the program within the first 2 years of employment. Workforce Safety Statement - Prioritizes the physical and psychological safety of the workforce as a foundational element of high-reliability care. Ensure goals are established with effective monitoring and reporting to improve workforce safety and wellbeing. Skills and Attributes: Decisive decision making Change management Effective communication skills Problem solving Leadership and delegation Budget management Position Requirements: Work Experience A minimum of 4 years' relevant experience required Education Master's degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire Licensure/Certification/Registration RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 45 days of employment in this position AND BLS Instructor - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Instructor required within 180 days of employment Organizational Responsibilities: Supports Owensboro Health's Mission, Vision, Core Commitments, and business interests.
