Job Summary: Provide essential clinical support in the operating room by assisting anesthesia providers, surgeons, and team members with procedural tasks. Ensure adherence to established standards for instrument processing, including cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization, following recognized guidelines such as AMMI, AORN, and AST. Essential Responsibilities: Assist with procedural needs and prioritize tasks based on department activity and direction. Monitor and maintain surgical instruments and equipment to ensure quality and safety. Support nursing staff by obtaining specialized supplies promptly without compromising patient care. Collaborate with the surgical team to adjust patient care plans and update preference cards and instrument sets as technology evolves. Promote teamwork by appropriately delegating tasks and maintaining a professional, calm environment. Maintain patient safety by adhering to sterilization protocols, HIPAA regulations, and verifying sterile field integrity. Respond efficiently to multiple supply and instrument requests under pressure. Exemplify excellent patient and visitor relations, fostering a respectful and quiet atmosphere. Professional Development: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of anatomy, instruments, and equipment. Serve as a resource for peers and new staff through training and mentorship. Engage in ongoing learning opportunities and contribute to departmental goals and practice improvements. Customer Service: Build strong relationships with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals. Practice AIDET communication techniques and support a collaborative team environment. Demonstrate flexibility with assignments and shifts as needed. Education and Certification: Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or be a licensed practical nurse (LPN) with registration as a nurse. Work Environment: Full-time day shift position in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
