Job Description: This is a 12-month, live-in positionReports to: Director of Residence Life Supervises: Student Staff Members Major Responsibilities (Residence Life) Facilitate a "sense of belonging" among students in order to enhance the quality of residential living at Herkimer College. Help supervise evening and weekend events, including Resident Assistant sponsored programs. Support, supervise and evaluate R.A. staff within assigned housing area. Maintain office hours in the Office of Residence Life (hours may fluctuate during busier times of the school year). Hours during summer months will be adjusted. Hold weekly staff and bi-weekly individual meetings with the R.A. staff. Manage the recruitment, selection, and training of R.A. staff. Handle primary mediations (i.e. roommate conflicts/crisis intervention) Coordinate monthly safety inspections with the R.A. staff in assigned housing area and take action as appropriate. Participate in rotating on-call duty calendar within the Office of Residence Life and do nightly rounds to monitor the resident's life buildings. Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to address any facility repairs within assigned housing area. Work on health and wellness programing in conjunction with the Counseling Center Assist the Office of Residence Life in all housing assignments, including the Spring Housing Lottery and summer assignments. Assist Housing and Residence Life offices with summer programs. Administer yearly quality of life survey for the residential community. Help coordinate end-of-semester and end-of-year damage billing for assigned housing area. Assist admissions office with housing tours of the show apartment. Perform general office duties and other duties as assigned. Ancillary Responsibilities (Center for Student Leadership and Involvement) Oversee on campus Intramurals in conjunction with Herkimer Athletics Serve as a resource for student clubs/organizations and advisors. Assist with new student orientation and Fall Fest & Alumni Weekend. Requirements: Minimum Experience and Educational Background Experience working in College Residence Halls and/or Student Activities preferred. Associate's degree Required. Bachelor's Degree Preferred Must have basic computer knowledge and be familiar with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Microsoft Word & Publisher. Basic knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other social media platforms preferred. Must be available to work evenings and some weekends, as required/needed. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
