Test Automation Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Test Automation Engineer in Huntsville, AL for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role supports an Internal Research and Development (IRAD) test team by designing, developing, and implementing automated tests to validate system functionality, performance, and integration. You will collaborate closely with developers, systems engineers, and test leads to build scalable automation frameworks, execute automated test suites in CI/CD pipelines, and ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and verification results. Required Skills Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field with 12 years of related experience, OR Master's degree with 10 years, OR PhD with 8 years Active in-scope DoD-issued Secret clearance at time of application (required to start) Experience designing, developing, and executing automated tests aligned to defined test cases Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and libraries in CI/CD environments Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java, C#) Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) in a delivery/testing pipeline Familiarity with CI/testing tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms for automating builds and execution Unix/Linux operating system experience Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to learn and adopt new concepts and technologies quickly Preferred Skills Advanced scripting capabilities in Python or Java for custom automation needs Experience integrating Gherkin syntax and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) into automated testing workflows Familiarity with Cucumber, SpecFlow, or similar tools Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) systems and real-time testing environments Experience testing in containerized environments using Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes Familiarity with static/dynamic code analysis tools (SonarQube, Fortify, Coverity) Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics What You'll Do Collaborate with test leads, developers, and systems engineers to design test cases and implement automated tests validating system requirements Develop, maintain, and optimize automated test frameworks to improve scalability, accuracy, and maintainability Execute automated regression, integration, and performance tests and document/report results Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues found during testing; partner with developers on root cause investigations Support continuous testing workflows within CI/CD pipelines and improve validation efficiency through automation Maintain traceability between requirements, automated tests, and verification results Analyze automated test results to evaluate performance and identify gaps Contribute to automated testing strategy improvements aligned with industry best practices Job ID: 15732 "Military veterans and transitioning military members are encouraged to apply to all PGS Worldwide positions.
