About the Role: The Baler / Sorter plays a critical role in the manufacturing industry by efficiently managing the sorting and baling of recyclable and waste materials to support sustainable production processes. This position ensures that materials are accurately separated according to type and quality standards, which directly impacts the efficiency of recycling operations and overall plant productivity. The role requires close attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment while operating heavy machinery such as balers and conveyors. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a manufacturing or recycling environment preferred but not required. Ability to operate industrial machinery safely, including balers and conveyors. Basic understanding of sorting and recycling processes. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and perform repetitive tasks. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in equipment operation or safety training related to manufacturing or recycling. Experience with quality control procedures in a manufacturing or recycling setting. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance requirements. Strong communication skills to effectively work within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records. Responsibilities: Sort incoming materials by type, quality, and condition to prepare them for baling or further processing. Operate baling machines safely and efficiently to compress recyclable materials into manageable bales. Inspect materials for contaminants or non-recyclable items and remove them to ensure quality standards are met. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sorting and baling areas to comply with safety and operational guidelines. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on baling equipment to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production targets and improve sorting processes. Document production data and report any issues or safety concerns promptly to management. Skills: The required skills enable the Baler / Sorter to efficiently and safely operate machinery while maintaining high standards of material quality and workplace safety. Attention to detail is essential for accurately sorting materials and identifying contaminants, which helps optimize recycling processes. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are used daily to handle materials and operate equipment effectively. Preferred skills such as knowledge of safety regulations and quality control enhance the ability to maintain compliance and improve operational efficiency.
