Instructor, Practical Nurse Certificate Program (Tenure Track) Overview: Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Nursing Instructor at our Clifton Campus location beginning in the Summer 2026. Qualified candidates will need to teach college-level courses to our technical, transfer degree and non-degree seeking students in our Health and Public Safety Division (HPS). Responsibilities will include instructing students and providing relevant class/lab/clinical experiences needed to assist them in the successful completion of their program. Our Faculty are also responsible for providing student advising relative to academic programs, and collaborating with program chair(s), clinical coordinators, and other teaching faculty, as well as members of the HPS Division and the community to support the program and activities of the Nursing, HPS Division, and College. Essential Duties: Teach assigned introductory and upper-level nursing courses following established course descriptions, course objectives, and syllabi. Provide academic advising to students, including information regarding the curriculum, scheduling, cooperative education, and career opportunities. Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods. Actively participate in cluster/area, College and Divisional activities, meetings, and committees. Assist in the development of new courses/curricula and the maintenance of existing courses/curricula. Develop and use a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college, discipline, and departmental guidelines and submit one copy to the department chair. Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles. Teach courses, labs and clinical at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs. Use equipment and facilities responsibly and courteously. Comply with OAC 4723-5-19 Responsibilities of faculty teaching a nursing course Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Successful candidate must agree to complete Master of Science degree in nursing within five years. Active Unencumbered Ohio nursing license or Multistate Compact License. Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the nursing field. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with nursing students. Knowledge of Ohio Board of Nursing law and rule Valid driver's license & transportation to travel to campuses, training & clinical sites as needed. Evening hours availability required, and occasional weekend hours as needed. Meet standard physical requirements of an acute care nurse. Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing degree Certified Nurse Educator credential. Licensed Practical Nursing education experience. High Fidelity Simulation Experience Desired Competencies: Demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies. Experience using diverse methods of classroom technology, and innovative instructional/academic support systems and programs. Possess the ability to work in a diverse work environment. Demonstrated skill in teaching, using applied academic methods, including active and collaborative learning. Strong written and oral communication skills. Collaborator, strong organizational skills, and self-motivated. Demonstrated commitment to student and faculty success. Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software are required. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Possess good organizational and planning skills. Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment. Self-disciplined and able to effectively manage others.
