Bus Driver

Required Skills: Preferred but NOT required High School diploma or equivalent CDL license Understanding of safe working methods and procedures, traffic laws, first aid Physical abilities to include: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, handling, hearing sounds (air leaks, etc.), near/far visual acuity, depth perception, and accommodation Must be able to follow oral and written instructions Essential Job Responsibilities: Transports students over scheduled routes and/or special excursions Enforces safety rules, regulations, and laws as they apply to safety during transport Assesses potential emergency situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action to protect the well being of passengers Assists students and other passengers to provide a safe boarding and departure from the bus - both emergency and normal transport Attends training to maintain skills and meet requirements for school bus certification Informs school personnel of practices and incidents to provide information for follow up action regarding behavior and safety violations Inspects bus to ensure the vehicle is safe for operation Fuels assigned bus for purpose of maintaining vehicle for safe operation Maintains regular and appropriate attendance and is on time for assignments to meet the needs of the students and the school system
