The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000 depending on experience Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future Tutor Perini Corporation is seeking a Deputy Project Managerto join our project site at Newark International Airport. Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional Talent Position Summary The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) supports the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of heavy civil and infrastructure construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role serves as a key liaison between field operations, subcontractors, clients, and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and quality standards. The DPM plays a hands-on role in cost control, documentation, scheduling support, and change management on complex civil construction projects such as transportation, utilities, terminals, bridges, and site development. Job Description Project Coordination & Execution Assist the Project Manager with overall project planning, execution, and delivery Coordinate daily activities between field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers Support development and maintenance of project schedules and work plans Monitor project progress and identify risks, delays, and mitigation strategies Attend project meetings with clients, engineers, and stakeholders Cost Control & Commercial Management Track project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports Assist with procurement, subcontract administration, and purchase orders Support preparation and negotiation of change orders and claims Review subcontractor invoices and ensure alignment with progress and contract terms Help manage project cash flow and financial performance Contract Administration Interpret contract documents, drawings, and specifications Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements Maintain organized project documentation, logs, and correspondence Field & Operations Support Collaborate closely with Superintendents and Field Engineers to align field execution with project plans Conduct site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality compliance Assist with coordination of inspections, testing, and commissioning activities Safety & Quality Promote and enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards Support implementation of project-specific safety plans and quality control programs Participate in safety meetings and audits Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) 15+ years of experience in civil construction with a general contractor Experience on heavy civil, transportation, infrastructure, or large-scale public works projects(transit, highays, bridges, terminals, etc) Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost control practices Proficiency in construction management software (Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar) Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and technical documents Familiarity with CPM scheduling and project controls Experience with change order management and claims support OSHA 30 and/or PMP certification preferred Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent communication and leadership abilities Problem-solving and decision-making capability in fast-paced environments Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities Excellent written and verbal skills OUR MISSION We build critical infrastructure that creates a better world.
