Company: Highmark Health Job Summary This is a fantastic opportunity to lead innovative sourcing for a variety of spend categories throughout our organization. In this pivotal role, you will craft procurement strategies that optimize both direct and indirect spend. Collaborating closely with multiple Business Units, you'll identify and secure prime purchasing opportunities, acting as a strategic partner to Executive Vice Presidents and Senior Vice Presidents. Your focus will be on driving continuous improvement in procurement processes and providing expert insights that align supply chain strategies with our business objectives. This position includes significant responsibilities in financial oversight and risk management. While ideally based in Pittsburgh, PA, we welcome candidates from other areas. If you live within 50 miles of our office, you'll be required to work onsite three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Essential Responsibilities Oversee departmental management duties, including hiring, coaching, performance monitoring, and staff development. Plan and direct daily operations, creating and implementing necessary policies and procedures, including potential budget oversight. Lead the execution of sourcing and demand management strategies for assigned spend categories while mentoring team members in these processes. Utilize key metrics to identify issues and apply innovative business models to encourage best practices. Build and maintain robust relationships with executives to facilitate effective sourcing and align procurement strategies with corporate goals. Exhibit a strategic mindset and organizational acumen, effectively engaging various stakeholders. Guide staff in developing long-term strategic plans that consider evolving organizational needs and market trends. Negotiate contracts with new suppliers and manage contract renewals to ensure cost-effectiveness and savings. Conduct detailed spend analyses and market research while supervising staff in these activities. Ensure adherence to ethical procurement practices in compliance with corporate policies and relevant regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned or requested. Education Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration/Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, or Industrial Engineering; or equivalent relevant experience. Preferred: Master's Degree in a related field. Experience Minimum: 10 years of experience in procurement roles. 5 years of management experience, including leading cross-divisional teams. 5 years of strategic sourcing experience, emphasizing the influence on business strategies and vendor relationships. 3 years of negotiation experience within a corporate sourcing context. 3 years of experience generating RFx documents and managing complex RFx projects. Preferred: None. Licenses or Certifications Required: None. Preferred: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM). In-depth knowledge of industry trends to formulate effective long-term strategies. Strategic mindset with a strong executive presence. Confident and proactive in addressing challenges. Solid understanding of business processes, metrics, and customer value. Strong organizational and analytical skills, complemented by project leadership experience.
