As a Combat Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting your fellow Soldiers by designing and constructing vital structures such as bridges, roadways, and tactical defenses. Your expertise will also help in identifying and safely disposing of mines and other potential threats, ensuring the safety of your team and maintaining operational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities Build and fortify fighting positions, bridges, obstacles, and defensive structures. Execute demolition tasks and detonate explosives safely. Participate in operations focused on clearing obstacles and navigating rivers. Essential Skills You Will Acquire Basic demolition and explosive handling techniques. Construction of wire obstacles and fixed bridges. Fundamentals of urban operations. Heavy equipment operation. Desired Attributes Proficiency with hand and power tools. Ability to endure physically demanding activities over extended periods. Interest in engineering and construction. Enjoyment of outdoor work. Through comprehensive training, you will gain valuable skills that translate directly into civilian careers in construction, building inspection, and engineering. Earn While You Learn Instead of investing in education, you will be compensated while you train. By joining the Army National Guard, you can acquire these in-demand job skills along with a regular paycheck and access to tuition assistance. Your training will consist of 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn fundamental Soldiering skills, followed by 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) focusing on hands-on experiences in various construction projects.
