Position Details Position Start Date 4/1/2026 Salary/Wage 34.35 Terms/Schedule 12 months Appointment Type Full Time Description Job Title: HVAC Mechanic FLSA Status: Non-exempt Reports to: Maintenance Manager and HVAC Crew Leader Supervises: n/a Pay Grade: Tier 13, Facilities Hourly Wage Schedule Term of Employment: 12 months JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and HVAC Crew Leader, the HVAC Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and DDC systems. Periodically, this person may perform various other duties associated with pumps, compressors, motors, plumbing systems, electrical systems, etc. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and DDC systems. Periodically perform various other duties associated with pumps, compressors, motors, plumbing systems, electrical systems, etc. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. Able to operate or be capable of learning to operate and maintain all types of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, mechanical and electrical equipment. 2. Must be knowledgeable about various controls associated with heating and air conditioning systems. 3. Able to handle materials, hand tools, power tools and other associated equipment safely and efficiently. 4. Able to follow oral and written instructions. 5. Must be able to perform heavy lifting (75 pounds without assistance) 6. Must be capable of working from ladders or scaffolding 7. Possesses an ability to use computer software programs such as Word, Excel, Access, automated building control systems, and/or the Internet is a plus. 8. Must have knowledge of steam and hot water boilers and ability to troubleshoot them. 9. Must have knowledge of pneumatic systems and troubleshooting 10. Must be able to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to lift 75 pounds without assistance; must be able to remain in a stationary upright position for long periods of time; must be able to freely move about inside the workspace; must be able to work in environments of extreme heat and cold; regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees, administration, and outside vendors; must be able and capable of working from ladders, scaffolding, and high-life equipment.
