JMT is currently ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering design of transportation highways including the pavement section, sidewalks, trails, drainage, culverts, nonstructural retaining walls, and signing/marking, using knowledge of roadway engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Responsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the department. Acts as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leadersEstablish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business developmentManage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordinglyLead and contribute to the production of proposalsServe as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staffEstablish resources staffing needs for the sectionInterview and hire staff for the sectionPerform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teamsCoordinate work-sharing within region and between regions Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Excellent written and oral communication skillsProficient in Microsoft OfficeProficient in Microsoft Projects for Project Schedule developmentProficient in OpenRoads and/or MicroStation Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited programProfessional Engineer License15+ years’ experience in specialized disciplineProject management and business development experienceSuccessfully work and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environmentAbility to manage, mentor, and provide guidance and direction to staffThorough understanding of the TXDOT design standards, policies, specifications, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)process and plan preparation Qualifications Preferred Experience collaborating with local clients at the county and state levelTXDOT and municipal experience preferredSupervisory experience and leading a multidiscipline team preferred Working ConditionsJMT offers a flexible work environment when approved by your supervisor. Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.
