Job Description

Join the Navy's Advanced Electronics / Computer Field (AECF) and receive comprehensive training in cutting-edge electronics, computer systems, radar technologies, communications, and weapons fire control systems, including advanced missile systems and Aegis radar. As a vital member of the Combat Systems department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining combat readiness across the fleet. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and repair radar, communication, and navigation equipment. Operate, maintain, and repair fire control radars, mainframe computers, large screen displays, LANs, weapon control consoles, and automated gun systems. Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems used in weapons systems. Support combat systems readiness aboard aircraft carriers, Aegis cruisers, and other surface ships. Work Environment: Technicians will serve on fleet units worldwide and at shore-based repair facilities, which may include assignments aboard ships, remote stations, and technical repair shops. The work is highly technical, requiring precision, attention to detail, and teamwork. Training & Advancement: Apprentice Technical Training at Great Lakes, IL (11 weeks) FC Strand Training at Great Lakes, IL (16 weeks) ET Strand Training at Great Lakes, IL (22 weeks) Training covers essential topics such as electronics theory, radar systems, communications suites, missile and gun system ballistics, troubleshooting techniques, and fiber optics. After completing A School, technicians may have opportunities to attend advanced C Schools. College credits can often be earned through Navy training.
