Overview The Work We are looking for a highly skilled Chief Network and Systems Administrator to lead our administrative functions, reporting, design, and maintenance across various platforms. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of Server Operating Systems, WAN/LAN networking principles, and devices. Familiarity with diverse monitoring software from vendors such as Microsoft, Broadcom, Dynatrace, and Nexthink is essential. This role also requires delivering individual and group training on our toolset and creating technical and policy documentation as needed. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Manage and support Server Operating Systems on both physical and virtual platforms. Install, upgrade, and maintain monitoring application software across various operating systems. Possess a deep understanding of server monitoring, focusing on Windows Server and RHEL. Demonstrate strong knowledge of WAN concepts and data circuits such as T1s, MPLS, VPN, and Ethernet. Utilize networking devices including routers, switches, access points, and firewalls proficiently. Convey complex technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Follow established processes and procedures for addressing customer inquiries and issues. Maintain high standards of call quality to promote customer satisfaction. Communicate with customers clearly and accessibly. Document policies and procedures in the ticketing system and internal knowledge base. Evaluate and suggest improvements to enhance services for internal clients. Work independently and collaboratively within a team as necessary. Build strong relationships with clients for improved service delivery. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule. Complete additional tasks as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications - Here's What You Need BA/BS Degree with more than 5 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master's degree with over 3 years of experience, or a PhD with no experience required. Current DoD 8570 IA Baseline Certification, IAT Level II (e.g., Security+ CE). Ability to obtain other relevant DOD 8570 IA Computing Environment Certification within 6 months of employment. Must have an Interim Secret Clearance before starting. Experience using Remedy or a similar ticketing system. Professional experience with Windows Server 2012 and 2016. Hands-on experience with VMware. Familiarity with technologies such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and DFS. Understanding of NTFS file share permissions. Basic knowledge of authentication mechanisms including Kerberos and LDAP. Foundational networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, SSH, OpenVPN). Ability to pass a background check, with the possibility of additional checks based on project needs. Minimum Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills for clear and professional communication. Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Proven multitasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information responsibly. Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel. Desired Requirement: Knowledge of PowerShell scripting is an advantage. Experience with Cisco telephony and router solutions. Prior experience with USACE/ACE-IT. Experience supporting Office 365. Reports to: Program Manager Working Conditions Professional remote office environment. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday; 8-hour shifts between 6 AM and 6 PM local time. Occasional after-hours support may be required. Ability to perform duties for extended periods, both physically and mentally. Capability to efficiently use a computer and productivity tools. Establish a productive workspace. Extended periods of sitting and computer screen use required. Flexibility for scheduling, which may include holidays. Willingness to travel for business or professional development. Potential for working outside standard business hours.
