Position: Field Auto Appraiser Location: Buffalo, NY; Albany, NY; NM; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Odessa/Midland, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; Atlanta, GA; Philadelphia, PA; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX. PRIMARY PURPOSE: To handle vehicle appraisal assignments primarily for corporate fleets and insurance clients, with a strong focus on automobile appraisals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Efficiently schedule same-day appointments to conduct inspections within 24 hours, providing on-site estimates. Produce 6 to 10 appraisals each day, depending on location, while ensuring thorough evaluations. Conduct comprehensive vehicle assessments by considering pre-existing damages and making informed repair/replacement decisions. Determine repair time estimates and labor operations necessary for vehicle maintenance. Engage in effective negotiations with shop representatives regarding costs and establish expected completion dates aligned with client expectations. Review and assess supplement requests for validity. Communicate clearly with customers about their repair estimates and the claims process to foster understanding and satisfaction. Keep extensive records of vehicle repair cost estimates for accountability. Negotiate advanced fees for towing, teardown, and storage for vehicles classified as total losses. Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the claims process. Perform various additional responsibilities as directed by management. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the quality assurance team and participate in desk appraisal work when not in the field. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Licensing: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, but not mandatory. Possession of required licenses and relevant professional certifications is preferred. Must acquire necessary licensing within 60 days of hire if applicable. Experience: A minimum of four years of experience in insurance or body shop environments is required. Skills & Knowledge: Extensive technical knowledge of auto appraisals. Understanding of client operations and labor regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with general computer use. Strong analytical and interpretive skills. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal abilities. Effective negotiation skills and sound judgment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively. A capability to thrive in a collaborative team-oriented environment. Demonstrated success in achieving performance objectives. Familiarity with CCC One is a plus. Requirements: Must be able to successfully complete state licensing for appraisal within 30 days of hire. Reliable transportation is essential for travel to assigned job sites. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This role operates largely independently, requiring effective management of your assigned territory and your day-to-day schedule. Mental: Capable of clear and conceptual thinking, demonstrating effective judgment, problem-solving skills, and discretion; ability to manage stress and multiple priorities effectively while meeting deadlines. Physical: Computer keyboarding and local travel as necessary. Auditory/Visual: Good hearing and vision are necessary for effective communication. Pay Transparency: In accordance with the law, Sedgwick offers a competitive salary range for roles potentially subject to pay transparency. The starting pay for this position ranges between $60,000 and $70,000 annually.
