Company: Allegheny Health Network Job Description: GENERAL OVERVIEW: Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, where you will play a critical role in providing outstanding nursing care for patients during their catheterization procedures. Your expertise will include skillful instrument handling, precise medication administration, and vigilant monitoring of hemodynamic parameters, all while ensuring meticulous documentation and helping to maintain high-quality procedural outcomes. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver compassionate care for patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Electrophysiology, and Hybrid Operating Room setting. You will prepare patients, explain procedures, obtain informed consent, and confirm medical histories and allergies. Leverage your knowledge of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular physiology and pathophysiology to effectively assist during procedures. Accurately position patients and select imaging parameters in line with established protocols while supporting the physician or physician assistant. Maintain certification to administer and monitor Moderate Sedation, vasoactive medications, and anticoagulants as per guidelines. Actively monitor patients for any adverse reactions during procedural activities and respond appropriately. Exhibit technical competence by performing scrub functions during surgeries and assisting cardiologists by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Show thorough knowledge of aseptic techniques and adherence to standard precautions during all procedure phases, including medication and specimen handling protocols. Prepare contrast media and apply strict aseptic techniques before, during, and after procedures. Ensure detailed documentation for regulatory, billing, and image storage purposes is completed accurately. Manage inventory and maintain necessary supplies to support smooth department operations. Assist in orienting new staff on laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any operational issues as needed. Provide comprehensive nurse-to-nurse handoff to receiving units to ensure continuity of care. Be open to cross-training in various areas to enhance departmental functionality. Engage in additional job-related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum: Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Current State of PA RN licensure or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
