Maintains patient and service rooms in a clean and orderly condition. Assists with the preparation of the room and equipment for diagnostic procedures. Participates in the orientation process of new employeesJob Responsibilities:Patient Care Delivery- The nurse aide delivers basic nursing care to provide for the care and comfort needs of the patient.Responds to patient's call lights promptly to determine patient's needs and relays information to appropriate nursing personnelObserves the patient and reports any reaction or change in condition to the nurse in a timely mannerAssists the patient in the activities of daily living- nourishment, ambulation, personal hygiene, toileting. Adapts care delivery to meet the individual needs of the patientProvides direct nursing care to patients by performing such tasks as vital signs/weight, complete/partial baths, skin care, Foley catheter care, enemas and specimen collection in compliance with policy/procedureDemonstrates proper turning, positioning and transferring techniques when providing patient careDistributes patient nourishment, assists with feeding as indicated, collects trays at the end of the mealEstimates amount of food/fluid consumed by patient at each meal from the tray and records the data on the flow sheet , Intake & Output record, or Calorie Count SheetMaintains a clean, safe and organized patient environmentMonitors and maintains the service rooms in an orderly manner. Prepares equipment to be returned to Central ServiceIdentifies the patient prior to care delivery by checking the identification arm bandRecognizes safety hazards and acts promptly and appropriatelyCompletes patient rounds on a regular basis to monitor for patient safetyUtilizes proper body mechanics and safety measures during the transferring or lifting of patients or equipmentDemonstrates compliance with the measures outlined in the Falls Prevention ProgramAccepts care assignments willingly and goes to other units when requiredResponds to fluctuation in workload by helping to complete tasks of another staff memberWillingly completes various errands as requestedInteracts effectively with the staff on the unit and in other departmentsWorks collaboratively with management to improve the environment of care for patients, family and personnelSeeks out and utilizes the Nurse Manager and Nursing Administrative Supervisor to address issues that require their assistance to resolveParticipates in the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices and supports measures to improve practiceAttends and participates in educational programs offered in the hospital to maintain competenceComplies with staff meeting attendance requirements Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or GEDCertificate from an approved Nurse Aide training program,In lieu of certificate must be a nursing student who has completed a Nursing Fundamentals course. BLS certification, de-escalation and first aid training.Ability to read and write at an elementary school level to understand the patient's plan of care and to record data on the patient's medical recordAbility to perform simple arithmetic calculations at an elementary school level in order to take and record the patient's weight, vital signs, I & OInterpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversityBasic analytical skills in order to gather data, complete comparisons, interpret, & report outcomes to the nurse or document on the medical record.Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneouslyMust possess excellent customer service skillsQualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.Long Island Community Hospital provides its staff with far more than just a place to work. The hourly range for the role is $27.60 - $27.60 per hour. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
