Service and maintain boilers, chillers, rooftop units, air handling units, VAV boxes, and both pneumatic and DDC controls. Diagnose and repair electrical components related to HVAC systems, including motor controls and switchgear. Handle basic plumbing tasks related to HVAC, such as soldering copper pipes and replacing valves and fittings. Read blueprints and technical diagrams; ensure compliance with codes and safety standards. Collaborate with a skilled team to enhance building comfort, efficiency, and system reliability. What You Need to Succeed in this Role Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED along with four years of relevant work experience in equipment repair, plumbing, HVAC, or electrical fields. Two years of vocational school may substitute for two years of experience. A combination of education and experience may also be considered. You must have technical training and substantial experience with HVAC equipment, a valid driver's license, and a safe driving record with Minnehaha County. Successful completion of a pre-employment background process is required. Availability for rotating on-call shifts is essential, and you should maintain professionalism and a substance-free environment during those times. Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems will be essential, along with the ability to read blueprints and familiarity with codes and safety regulations. Experience with mapping tools and statistical software is advantageous. You should be able to work independently and communicate effectively.
