We seek professionals who are energized by growth, value sound judgment, and want to help shape the future of commercial clean energy delivery.About This RoleThe BESS / Microgrid Engineer plays a critical technical role in the design and integration of advanced energy systems across Greenlink’s commercial project portfolio.This role focuses on the engineering, modeling, and performance optimization of battery energy storage systems, solar + storage integrations, and commercial microgrids. The engineer will work across the full project lifecycle—from early feasibility and system architecture through commissioning and operational validation.This is not purely a modeling or drafting role. The BESS / Microgrid Engineer is expected to apply independent engineering judgment, understand system-level interactions, and guide design decisions that ensure reliable, cost-effective, and resilient energy systems.What You’ll DoSystem Design & ArchitectureLead technical design of battery energy storage systems and commercial microgrid architecturesDefine system sizing, electrical configurations, and integration strategies for solar PV + storage and grid-interactive energy systemsEvaluate site electrical infrastructure, load characteristics, and operational objectives to determine optimal system designSupport selection of batteries, inverters, PCS systems, transformers, switchgear, and other balance-of-system componentsEnsure designs meet applicable codes, AHJ requirements, and utility interconnection standardsSystem Modeling & Performance AnalysisDevelop and validate performance models for energy storage and microgrid systemsEvaluate operational strategies, including peak shaving, load shifting, resiliency, and islanding capabilitiesAnalyze system stability and performance under normal operation and contingency scenariosSupport production modeling and long-term performance projections for project development and financingCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Sales, Development, and Operations teams to support technical feasibility and system optimizationWork closely with solar engineers, electrical designers, and installation teams to ensure constructable designsEvaluate vendor equipment specifications and performance characteristicsProvide technical guidance during procurement, installation, and commissioning phasesRisk Management & System OptimizationIdentify technical risks early in project development and recommend mitigation strategiesEvaluate design tradeoffs related to performance, cost, resiliency, and operational flexibilitySupport troubleshooting and root-cause analysis during commissioning and system operationsMaintain accurate documentation, system models, and as-built engineering recordsContinuous ImprovementContribute to the development of engineering standards for storage and microgrid systemsEvaluate emerging technologies and integration strategiesSupport internal knowledge development across solar, storage, and energy optimization platformsWhat You’ll BringBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)4+ years of experience in energy storage, power systems engineering, microgrids, or distributed energy systemsStrong understanding of battery energy storage systems, power conversion systems, and grid-interactive energy infrastructureExperience designing or supporting solar + storage or microgrid projectsFamiliarity with electrical system modeling tools or performance modeling methodologiesWorking knowledge of NEC, interconnection requirements, and utility coordinationAbility to evaluate system behavior and make sound engineering decisions across multiple design constraintsStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and commercial teamsPreferred / Nice to HaveExperience with microgrid controls, grid-forming or grid-following inverter architecturesFamiliarity with SCADA systems, EMS platforms, or microgrid control strategiesExperience integrating solar PV, storage, and building loads into coordinated systemsExposure to commercial or industrial energy projectsExperience supporting TPO or financed energy infrastructure projectsCompensation & BenefitsSalary range: $100,000 – $130,000, depending on experienceBenefits include:Health, dental, and vision insurance401(k)Paid time offLife insuranceWhy This Role at GreenlinkGreenlink is building an integrated commercial energy platform where solar, storage, and intelligent energy systems work together to deliver long-term performance.Engineers in this role will help define how advanced energy systems are designed and deployed for commercial customers, with the opportunity to work on projects that combine solar, storage, and resilient microgrid infrastructure.This role offers meaningful technical ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to help shape the engineering foundation of a growing clean energy company.
