Description The purpose of the Civilian Volunteer Program for the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is to enhance the agency's ability to provide services to the community. BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION WAIVERBackground Investigation Waiver (Required): Please click on the link below for the Background Waiver Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to, any of the following tasks: Clerical duties such as filing , forwarding, and/or receiving documentation to/from other Units or Sections of the agency or organizations from outside the agency, sending and receiving communications via fax , shredding non-sensitive documents as directed by supervisors, that have been approved by the Records Section Manager or designee for purging. Answering agency telephones, documenting telephone calls, and information relayed in person by visitors to agency facilities. Attend community events on behalf of the OCSO Crime Prevention Unit Distribute crime prevention and awareness materials Crime prevention services such as Cody Checks via the RSVP program Duties may include other tasks unique to the individual's skills, with the Sheriff's approval. QualificationsBe at least 16 years of age. Provide written authorization and appropriate access to facilitate a thorough background check by an agency background investigator. Be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background check. Not have been convicted or plead no contest to a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in Florida. Not have been convicted or plead no contest to a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement. Have no discharge from any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States other than honorable. Posses a valid driver license; this requirement may be waived dependent upon the position the volunteer is filling. Have his/her fingerprints searched through FDLE and FBI files. Have a completed, processed OCSO Volunteer application on file. Successfully complete all required training and familiarization as required by the OCSO.
