Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Construction Engineer to support building and facility construction projects focused on industrial mechanical systems within automotive manufacturing environments. This role supports the mechanical aspects of new facility construction, including HVAC, cooling systems, and plant infrastructure. The ideal candidate has strong experience in industrial or manufacturing construction - residential or general commercial construction backgrounds are not suitable for this position. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical system startup, commissioning, and handover activities. Review engineering drawings, equipment submittals, RFIs, and technical specifications. Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal teams for equipment delivery, installation, and factory testing. Oversee weekend shutdown work and plant utility coordination. Perform continuous field inspections to ensure compliance with project specs, codes, and safety standards. Monitor installation methods to confirm alignment with engineering drawings. Manage construction schedules, daily site activities, and technical coordination meetings. Act as liaison between field construction teams and project management. Provide field engineering status reports and schedule updates. Support development of technical standards and construction specifications. Required Qualifications (Must Have) 5-10+ years supporting industrial or manufacturing construction projects. 5+ years experience in mechanical design or mechanical building systems. Strong knowledge of industrial HVAC, cooling, and facility mechanical systems. Extensive understanding of building codes and standards (IBC, NFPA, ASME, ASHRAE, NEC, etc.). OSHA 30 Certification. Experience managing RFIs, construction schedules, and contractor coordination. Ability to read and apply technical drawings in field environments. Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project). Comfortable working long hours within large manufacturing plants (walking, stairs, rooftop equipment areas). Automotive or similar industrial manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Preferred Qualifications AutoCAD or Bluebeam experience. Microsoft Project scheduling. Experience supporting automotive engine, transmission, or vehicle manufacturing facilities.
