Job Description: GENERAL FUNCTIONS: This position is responsible for working cooperatively with Student Services team members in the support of a variety of programs related to student wellness, access, and diversity. Major emphasis for this position is providing case management functions related to student mental health, conduct, and student retention. This person also works with Counseling Services to assist students through programming, crisis intervention, and case management. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Meets with students individually for wellness and health related support and intervention. Facilitate psychoeducational support groups and wellness experiences for students. Provides wellness programming based in healthy choice models related to substance use, healthy relationships, Coordinates with the Dean of Students regarding educational sanctions related to substance use concerns/infractions/violations, conflict resolution and personal wellness choices. Assists students in creating personal wellness plans and strategies, in coordination with providers, families, advisors, and other college personnel. Provides wellness education in classes, as requested by faculty. Provide wellness education sessions as requested by Residence Life, Athletics or other staff as requested. Oversight for the Wellness Center. Consult with faculty/staff addressing student-related concerns as appropriate. Consult with supervisor and communicate with key personnel, e.g., Dean of Students, Counseling Services, Campus Safety, College Village, Student Success Center, etc. to address the wellness concerns of students seeking services. Manage student cases. Serves as liaison with community mental health & wellness agencies, RESTORE Sexual Assault Services, social services, Genesee County Health Department, etc. in accordance with promoting student wellness and healthy, wholistic choices. Coordinates with the Dean of Students regarding wellness-related, educational sanctions for substance use concerns/infractions/violations, conflict resolution and personal wellness choices. Provides intervention documentation in Maxient. Maintain Confidential Student Records. Participates in the SUNY AOD monthly meeting and provides substance use data to the Dean of Students for reporting purposes. Perform other related duties as assigned by Assistant Dean of Student Services. Requirements: EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, human services or related field Preferred: Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work Licensed Master Social Work, Licensed Mental Health Counselor EXPERIENCE: At least one year's experience working with students in a behavioral health setting with a preference for candidates with experience in higher education behavioral health. Experience working with diverse populations of adults is required. Experience with students in post-secondary education is preferred. The ability to use PC hardware and office application software (i.e., word processing and spreadsheet) is required. Ability to utilize multiple computer platforms desired. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to analyze information and make informed decisions. Must have strong communication and rapport building skills as well as effective problem resolution skills. Must be able to work with students experiencing moderate to severe mental health and wellness situations. Must be committed to diversity and be able to demonstrate sensitivity to people from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. Must possess a strong commitment to student retention. Additional Information: RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Services. SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week. This is a twelve (12)-month appointment. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are set by the GEA contract. Position is compensated at a rate of $43,868.98 annually. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
