Job Description Senior Structural Steel Erector Estimator Location: PDX/SW PDX Schedule: Full-Time/Hybrid Compensation: Competitive DOE + full benefits The Opportunity: Opti Staffing Group is partnering with a respected structural steel organization to identify a Senior Structural Steel Estimator with strong experience in structural steel fabrication and erection. This is a high-impact role for an estimator who knows how to own complex bids, work cross-functionally, and leverage technology like Tekla and/or PowerFab to deliver accurate, competitive estimates. What You'll Be Doing: Lead estimating efforts for structural steel fabrication and erection projects Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from structural and architectural drawings Utilize Tekla Structures and/or PowerFab for estimating, takeoffs, and data management Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs Review bid documents, specifications, and scope to ensure complete and accurate estimates Collaborate with project managers, detailers, engineers, and fabrication teams Develop bid proposals, clarifications, and value-engineering options Maintain historical cost data and estimating benchmarks Participate in post-bid reviews and project handoff meetings Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior estimators as needed What We're Looking For: 7+ years of experience estimating structural steel projects Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes Hands-on experience with Tekla Structures and/or PowerFab Ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, and shop drawings Working knowledge of AISC standards and industry best practices Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously Clear communicator who works well across teams MUST Have: Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial steel projects - BRIDGE-ERECTOR-STRUCTURAL-STEEL Fabrication shop background BIM coordination or detailing exposure Leadership or mentoring experience Engineering or construction management background Why This Role?
