Junior Maintenance Technician - Baggage Handling SystemsLocation: El Paso International Airport Compensation: $15.00-17.00 per hour Schedule: 10-hour shifts | Overtime available | Operations 7 days per weekPosition Summary The Junior Maintenance Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of airport baggage handling systems. This role assists senior technicians with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, clears system jams, performs basic mechanical and electrical tasks, and ensures baggage systems operate safely and efficiently in a 24/7 airport environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance of baggage handling systems Manually move baggage and baggage tubs throughout assigned work areas Identify and clear baggage jams to restore system operation Perform basic mechanical and electrical adjustments under supervision Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues Conduct shift inspections and assist with system checks to ensure safe operation Perform housekeeping and basic maintenance tasks including sweeping, cleaning, and greasing equipment Read and follow repair manuals, basic schematics, and supervisor or manager instructions Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and around moving equipment using required PPE and fall protection Complete all required safety training and comply with company, airport, and federal safety policies Accurately complete work orders, inspection logs, and other documentation according to established procedures Take direction from senior technicians and supervisors and actively participate in training and mentoring opportunities Perform additional duties or assignments as required by management Qualifications Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience or ability to pass a mechanical aptitude test High School Diploma or GED preferred Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Basic computer skills, including logging in to systems, accessing email, and completing online training Valid driver's license Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Security Badge Ability to pass a 10-year background check and drug screening Must comply with company drug and alcohol policies Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays, and non-traditional schedules Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull baggage and equipment Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods Work is performed beneath airport terminals and within baggage handling areas Exposure to dust, dirt, and continuous noise below OSHA action levels Vision (near and distance) and hearing required Shifts are 10 hours (with overtime available) Sunday - Wednesday 3:00 AM - 1:30 PM 1:00 PM - 11:30 PM Wednesday - Saturday 3:00 AM - 1:30 PM 1:00 PM - 11:30 PM Company-Provided Equipment Airport security badge Parking pass Uniforms Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Employee Requirement: Steel-toe safety shoes Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Quality Support Services (QSS) is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
