Job Description

Overview: This role is dedicated to supporting the educational journey of students by minimizing absences due to illness and fostering a healthy, supportive environment within schools. The nurse plays a vital role in removing health-related barriers to learning and promoting overall well-being among students. Essential Responsibilities: Fiscal Responsibility: Efficiently manages supplies and equipment, streamlines processes to reduce waste, and completes duties promptly while documenting hours accurately. Quality Care: Provides expert triage, treatment, and first aid for students, ensuring compliance with regional health standards. Develops Individualized Healthcare Plans as needed and maintains up-to-date knowledge of policies and care standards. Communication & Patient Satisfaction: Demonstrates excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents, maintaining confidentiality and a compassionate approach. Supports the educational process by addressing health-related challenges. Patient Safety: Adheres to universal precautions, practices safe medication administration, and maintains accurate health records. Educates students and parents on health matters and ensures immunizations and testing are current. Professional Growth: Maintains clinical competency through regular practice, participates in professional development activities, and serves as a role model and resource within the school community. Customer Service: Upholds high standards of service, fosters positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel, and provides a calm, professional care environment. Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire. At least two years of experience in health care related to school-age children or school nursing preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and computer proficiency required. Area-specific education requirements must be met and maintained upon hire. Licensure: Active Registered Nurse license as required by the regional nursing board. Work Schedule: Part-time, first shift, approximately 28.4 hours per week. This position serves schools within a regional area of the Midwest United States.
