Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing essential diagnostic ultrasound services. As an Echo/Vascular Sonographer, you will perform cardiac and vascular sonography procedures, utilizing your expertise to deliver accurate diagnostic information and compassionate patient care. General Summary This role involves conducting diagnostic patient care using ultrasound technology and related procedures. You will apply your knowledge to cardiac and vascular imaging, adhering to legal and departmental guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, contrast agent administration, and safe patient handling to ensure a secure environment. Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic sonographic examinations with precision. Utilize cognitive sonographic skills to identify and adapt procedures based on anatomical and pathological findings. Analyze sonograms, integrate sonographic data with medical history, and communicate results effectively to physicians. Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the examination process. Maintain ultrasound equipment and work areas, including routine cleaning and reporting malfunctions or supply needs. Contribute to laboratory accreditation efforts by keeping quality assurance documentation current. Exercise independent judgment to distinguish between normal and abnormal sonographic findings. Education Completion of a Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer program is required. Candidates must be eligible to sit for the RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) and/or RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) credentials or an equivalent cardiovascular certification. Experience At least one year of experience in adult cardiac or vascular sonography is necessary. Certification/License RDCS and/or RVT certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is required. Registration in Echocardiography or Vascular Ultrasound must be obtained within 18 months of hire. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory. Mental/Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 150 pounds. Tasks include pushing, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching, along with sustained mental concentration. Working Conditions Expect regular exposure to infectious diseases and other workplace hazards common in healthcare settings.
